We then had to deal with the matter of having my ankle checked. He also agreed to pay the medical bills involved with whatever was needed. With that we thanked him and departed to Lead for the hospital.
At the hospital, the diagnoses was that the ankle was just sprained, so I was given some elastic wrap to keep it somewhat immobilized, and a pair of crutches. Alas, the crutches were absolutely needed at that point.
What was the outcome of this event? First, I had a new attitude about thinking I could control life, or even parts of it. Second, I had greater respect for my new wife Linda. I may have been the one to take the risk, but I was not the one to have had the insight to know what risk to take. It was a good dose of humility.
One more attitude needs to be mentioned here. Not once did Linda or I think about some kind of legal action. We were, of course, on our Honeymoon, but as every need had been taken care of, we had no additional desire to ruin the flow of happy events. Plus, what a great story we were left with.
I hope you enjoyed this happening. I have tried my best to not embellish the facts to enhance the telling. Thanks..... Keith
